Gold Alloys

Gold is the most malleable and ductile of all metals; a single gram can be beaten into a sheet of one square meter. Gold is unaffected by air and moisture, it will not corrode and can be kept highly polished. Because of the softness of pure (24k) gold, it is usually alloyed with other metals for use in jewelry.
Gold readily creates alloys with many other metals like silver, copper and palladium. By alloying gold with other metals it is possible to change its color to white and red, as well as yellow of course. At Guthries we only use 18 karat gold for our rings. 18 karat gold gives the perfect balance of strength and beauty.

Yellow Gold

Our 18k yellow gold is 75% gold with silver and copper added to create a strong and beautiful gold. We are very consistent with our alloy ratios so our yellow gold items always match.

White Gold

Our 18k White gold is 75% gold with palladium and silver added to create a strong and beautiful gold. We do not use nickel in our white gold. We are very consistent with our alloy ratios so our white gold items always match.

Rose Gold

Our 18k Rose gold is 75% gold with copper added to create a strong and beautiful gold. Rose gold is created by increasing the level of copper to bring out the rose color. We are very consistent with our alloy ratios so our rose gold items always match.
