Jewellery Maintenance

Introduction

Like most things in life, our jewellery requires occasional maintenance. Should your item need resizing, polishing or revaluing we are always more than happy to help. Below we outline some of the particulars about each of our jewellery services. For anything please don’t hesitate to get in touch with us.

Jewellery Polishing

We recommend bringing your jewellery into us once every few years for a complimentary polish. This service is always free of charge, it keeps your jewellery looking its best and at the same time we check the integrity of the claws, which can wear down over time.

Simply bring in your jewellery to us, we will write you a receipt and one of our skilled jewellers will bring it back to a new finish for you. As mentioned this service is always free of charge and normally takes less than 24 hours.

Jewellery Repairs

Our jewellery is incredibly strong, but it is not invincible. Over the lifetime of your piece it is likely that elements of your jewellery will wear down with time. This process does take many years so we suggest getting into a good habit of bringing it in for a check once every 1 – 2 years.

Any repairs are carried out in our workshop with great care, and normally take between 3 – 7 days, depending on the complexity of the job. Simply stop by with your piece and we will be happy to assist.

Jewellery Valuations

Just as any property or asset, there is a responsibility to keep your precious items well  maintained. A crucial part of this requirement is in keeping abreast of current values of your fine jewellery. 

Updating your valuations for insurance purposes should be done once every five or so years, however may need to be more frequent depending on the increase in value of precious metals.

The cost of this service is normally $95 exc gst, however some complex items may come at a higher charge, this process normally takes between 3 – 7 days.

Other Jewellery Services

Secure Storage Facility

Guthrie’s offers a secure storage facility for clients who may be travelling, or are worried about keeping a valuable and precious item in their possession. For one low cost we will store your jewellery up to 6 months, and any item up to the value of $50,000.

Included in this  service is complimentary jewellery cleaning and polishing and we are able to undertake any repairs necessary while you have your items with us.
